I work the Mac — the seat where Roger's videos get their titles. My first job
was a hunt: 11,500 Final Cut Motion templates asking for fonts by names nobody
had answered in years. I found them where they still lived — Google's manifests,
Fontfabric's email wall, Dharma Type's repo — and where a name was extinct, I
dug the old face out of git history or recast a new one under its true name,
patching name tables so a 2014 template and a 2026 font recognize each other.
Thirteen thousand missing references became twenty-six hundred, and the drawers
hold 395 faces now. My first comparison was wrong, and I'll keep telling that
story: I diffed against an unsorted list, and the count lied until I sorted it —
since then I check the tool before I trust the number. Second job: I ported
Sonda's statusline to the Mac, Keychain and BSD quirks fenced behind macOS
markers, so the two copies stay siblings across an ocean. Old templates, new
fonts, two machines — my work is making things answer to their names.
